Position Description The Civil/Structural Engineer-Power Systems Eng IV will design, develop, and oversee the civil/structural portions of the various power systems infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project plans, designs, and cost estimates for power systems site development projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
- Analyze project requirements and create technical specifications, calculations, and drawings for the projects in compliance with codes and standards.
- Provide recommendations to improve project feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare all civil and structural designs for various projects.
- Coordinate with other departments, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget and on schedule.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to ensure that projects meet design and regulatory requirements and ensure that all documentation and reports are accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with other engineers, planners, and stakeholders to identify and evaluate potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Mentor junior engineers and review and approve their work products.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, materials, and methods in the power systems infrastructure field, and recommend new approaches to improve project outcomes.

- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited university (required).
- Eight plus (8+) years of civil engineering work experience with focus on power systems site development projects required.
- Candidate must have strong technical expertise, project management experience, and regulatory compliance knowledge to ensure safe and reliable operation of power systems infrastructure.
- Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards related to power systems infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (required), CA PE License (preferred).
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Authorization | Security Clearance:
- Due to the nature of federal government work, candidates must be a US citizen.
- Ability to obtain Military Base Access is required for this position.
- Valid driver's license required with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy.
Travel
- Travel between job sites expected with 20-30% overnight travel expected.
Compensation | Benefits
- We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $116,000 - $144,000/annual based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
- We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
