Supervises and coordinates the sets up and break down of all Hotel function rooms, tables, chairs and any other necessary equipment according to prescribed layout. Assists in the presetting, serving and breakdown of all function rooms and return to secure storage of all equipment and materials. Supervises Banquet Set up staff to ensure the deliverance of Loews Star Service Standards for Banquet set up.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversees/transports and sets up banquet tables, chairs and equipment according to Event Order diagrams and/or specifications. May create set up diagrams when necessary.
  • Supervises the activities of all banquet set up staff.
  • Provides training for all banquet set up staff
  • Ensures required linens and table skirting are obtained from linen supply room
  • Uses table cloths and table skirts to cover tables properly
  • Ensures that Function Rooms are set up and prepared on time
  • May assist in the presetting of china, glassware, silverware and service equipment necessary for banquet service activities
  • May assist in the clearing of soiled china, glassware, silverware and service equipment after function ends
  • Supervises/clears, sorts, prepares soiled china, glassware, silverware and service equipment for washing after end of banquet food service function
  • Inventories and returns equipment and materials to secure storage
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of back of house and storage areas
  • Coordinates/gathers and presorts soiled linens and table skirts before transporting them to the laundry
  • Oversees/breaks down tables, chairs and equipment for return to storage
  • May assist in the set up and break down of audio visual equipment
  • Supervises, may assist or perform transport and set up of portable dance floor
  • Coordinates, may assist or prepare coffee, ice/hot tea or other beverages
  • May assist in the plating of food prior to banquet food service function
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings with set-up personnel to discuss daily activities
  • Attends departmental meetings
  • Schedules set up personnel according to established standards
  • Follows New Hire Training and ongoing Star Service Competency program in accordance with hotel policy
  • Trains, appraises, coaches, counsels and disciplines departmental employees according to Loews Hotels standards
  • Evaluates individual employee performance, determines areas in need of improvement or requirements for advancement, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required to achieve same
  • Ensures adherence to all Loews Hotels service standards
  • Coaches, counsels, retrains personnel as needed in order to ensure superior levels of performance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years as a banquet house person/Convention set up in a comparable size and quality property
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend repetitively, safely move and set up banquet tables, chairs and equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry tables, chairs, equipment and food service trays weighting 35+ pounds
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
The wage for this position is $24.42.
