Play an integral role in leading one of the industry's most significant power infrastructure projects. As Project Construction Director - Power Projects, you will serve as the senior site leader responsible for all construction execution activities across a major capital power generation project. Operating as the primary field representative for Worley, you will provide strategic leadership to large multidisciplinary construction organizations while building trusted customer relationships and driving the safe, predictable, and successful delivery of complex infrastructure programs.

This is a highly visible executive leadership role where your ability to align people, strategy, and execution directly impacts project performance, customer satisfaction, business outcomes, and Worley's reputation as a world-class EPC delivery organization. You will influence key project decisions, lead through multiple layers of management, and create an environment where safety, operational excellence, collaboration, and innovation thrive.

Purpose of the role

The Project Construction Director - Power Projects holds overall accountability for all site-based construction execution activities on a major power generation project. Acting as the senior construction leader and primary customer-facing representative at the project site, you will provide strategic direction, governance, and leadership across all construction disciplines while ensuring alignment with project objectives, contractual commitments, customer expectations, and business priorities.

You will lead a large multidisciplinary construction organization through Construction Managers, Area Managers, Superintendents, Field Supervisors, contractors, and specialty execution teams. Through visible leadership and disciplined execution, you will ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with schedule, quality, and commercial objectives while fostering a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

You will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the senior on-site representative for Worley and acting as the primary interface between the project team, customer leadership, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Providing overall leadership, governance, and direction for all construction activities across a complex power generation project.
  • Leading construction execution strategies that support the successful delivery of large-scale power generation facilities, including cogeneration and other advanced power technologies.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customer executives, project leadership teams, contractors, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual requirements and company standards.
  • Developing and implementing integrated construction execution plans, site management strategies, and delivery methodologies aligned with project and customer objectives.
  • Leading multiple Construction Managers, Area Managers, Superintendents, and discipline leaders to ensure consistent execution across all project work fronts.
  • Driving alignment between project strategy, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Providing leadership across all field construction disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning support activities.
  • Leading workforce planning, contractor management, talent deployment, and succession planning initiatives across the project site.
  • Monitoring project performance, productivity, quality, safety, schedule, and cost metrics while driving corrective and preventive actions when required.
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating execution risks that could impact project outcomes.
  • Leading complex problem-solving efforts involving technical, operational, commercial, and stakeholder challenges.
  • Supporting contract execution strategies through effective management of project risks, opportunities, change management activities, and commercial objectives.
  • Participating in executive-level project reviews and providing strategic recommendations regarding project performance, recovery strategies, and execution improvements.
  • Driving a culture of operational excellence by promoting innovation, productivity improvements, and continuous learning.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements while reinforcing a visible safety-first culture throughout the project.
  • Managing critical stakeholder communications during major project milestones, significant events, and business-critical decision points.
  • Championing sustainability initiatives and responsible construction practices that support Worley's commitment to delivering a more sustainable future.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of construction best practices, systems, tools, and delivery frameworks that improve project outcomes across the organization.

What you'll bring to the role

You bring a unique combination of executive leadership, technical expertise, commercial acumen, and construction delivery experience gained through successfully leading major capital projects within the power generation, energy, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.

  • Extensive experience leading the construction execution of large-scale power generation projects, including cogeneration facilities and other complex energy infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience serving as the senior construction leader on major EPC or EPCM projects with significant capital value and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading large construction organizations through Construction Managers, Area Managers, Superintendents, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong strategic leadership capability with the ability to translate business objectives into executable construction strategies.
  • Deep understanding of power generation construction methodologies, project delivery models, commissioning interfaces, and field execution best practices.
  • Demonstrated success delivering major capital projects while maintaining focus on safety, quality, productivity, schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, including risk management, forecasting, change management, claims avoidance, and cost control principles.
  • Proven ability to make independent, high-impact decisions that influence project strategy, execution planning, operational performance, and commercial outcomes.
  • Experience building trusted customer relationships and serving as a strategic advisor to customer leadership teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder environments while balancing technical, commercial, operational, and customer priorities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with experience presenting recommendations to executive leadership and customer decision-makers.
  • Strong leadership presence with a demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced understanding of construction management systems, project controls, scheduling methodologies, productivity tools, and digital construction technologies.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, workforce development, and customer success.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Typically brings 20+ years of progressive construction leadership experience within power generation, energy infrastructure, industrial construction, or major capital project environments.
