Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA (www.cruzinc.us) has a position open and is looking for qualified candidates for an Electrical Designer I. The job location is Joint Base Langley Eustis (JBLE), Virginia in support of the U.S. Army Development Command's Technology Development Directorate - Aviation (TDD-A).

Scope: Provide support designing and drafting Technical Data Packages (TDP's) for electrical wiring of component level mission hardware. The 3D designs are developed in and managed within the Windchill program. Electrical Design work may be conducted independently or as a member of a larger team of designers and engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and drafting of block interconnect and schematic diagrams for box level systems.
  • Modeling of 3-D harness assemblies for drawings and depiction of routing in aircraft.
  • Drafting of wire, RF cable, and harness assembly drawings for use in prototype and production fabrication.
  • Use of parametric capabilities to transfer schematic info to harness and use to create conductor details and parts lists.
  • Organize products in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and maintain revision control.
  • Occasional use of ability to produce electro-mechanical parts.
  • Follow-up and collaboration with fabrication and installation teams to maintain design intent.
  • Possible travel <5% for survey and system development.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret / Secret security clearance.
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Technology with courses in Electronic Drafting or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in computer aided design (CAD) software, preferably Creo Parametric, Schematics and Cabling. Acceptable alternatives include Pro/E Wildfire, Solidworks, NX, and equivalents.
  • Experience with PLM software, preferably Windchill. Acceptable alternatives include Team Center, SharePoint, and equivalents, desired.
  • Familiarity with SAE AS 50881 - Wiring Aerospace Vehicles or similar industry specifications, desired.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-704 - Aviation Power Systems, desired.
  • Familiarity with military specifications on connectors and wiring for aviation platforms, desired.
