Requirements



  • Minimum 3 years of structural fitting experience
  • Ability to perform advanced fitting duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and work orders
  • Experience using precision measuring tools, including calipers, rulers, and combination squares
  • Experience fitting and assembling structural steel components
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes safely
  • Strong understanding of shop safety procedures and housekeeping practices
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and perform physical work throughout the shift
  • Must successfully complete a weld/fitting test


Job Duties



  • Read blueprints and identify material sizes and specifications
  • Fit structural frameworks and steel components according to layouts, drawings, and work orders
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly
  • Cut, contour, and bevel metal plates and structural shapes to blueprint specifications
  • Check grooves, angles, and gap allowances using precision measuring instruments
  • Burn, measure, and tack weld structural steel assemblies according to detailed drawings
  • Operate overhead cranes to move materials and finished assemblies
  • Follow all shop safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly dispose of waste materials
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager
