Job Description:

The Director of Operations and Player Development for Gopher Baseball is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the baseball program, including compliance, social media, player development, equipment, travel, alumni relations, purchasing, recruiting, field maintenance, and game day operations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate with various departments and stakeholders to support the success of Gopher Baseball while performing on field coaching duties.

Key Responsibilities:
10% Compliance:

  • Maintain and submit daily, weekly, and monthly compliance logs via Teamworks.
  • Ensure timely communication of changes to student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with compliance staff to adhere to NCAA rules and regulations regarding practice times during all seasons.

10% Analytics and Player Development:

  • Use video, data, and analytics platforms to develop cutting edge player development protocols
  • Use video, data, and analytics platforms to develop scouting reports for opposing teams
  • Provide coaching staff with applicable materials in a timely manner

10% Roster Management:

  • Develop and implement a short and long-term roster construction strategy.
  • Identify efficient ways to maximize player retention and play acquisition resources.
  • Maintain a 1, 2, and 3 year roster outlook.

20% Player Development and On Field Coaching:

  • Create and deploy short and long-term strategies for each hitter and or pitcher on the team.
  • Work within NCAA allotted hours to maximize SA player development.
  • Utilize technology and data to guide objective measurements and track progress.
  • Regularly connect with SAs to ensure cohesiveness and alignment with team goals

5% Dugout Club:

  • Serve as conduit between Dugout Club (Booster Club) and program.

5% Equipment:

  • Work with the equipment staff to ensure all student-athletes have proper equipment for practice, weight training, and competitive play.
  • Develop bi-yearly new jersey concepts in collaboration with the equipment staff and Nike.

10% Travel and Meals:

  • Coordinate team travel for competitions with Brenda Fisher.
  • Develop detailed itineraries for team travel.
  • Organize team meals and workout accommodations on the road.

5% Alumni Relations:

  • Send out monthly newsletters to Gopher Baseball alumni to keep them informed about program updates.
  • Organize celebrations for championship teams and general alumni events.

5% Purchasing and Expense Reports:

  • Coordinate all purchases with the business office using purchase orders (POs) and P Cards.
  • Obtain approval for high-value items from the business office.
  • Complete all expense reports for team travel.

10% Recruiting:

  • Assist the coaching staff in identifying potential recruits and evaluating tournaments and events.
  • Develop relationships with club, high school, and junior college coaches to facilitate recruiting.
  • Organize top-tier campus visits for potential student-athletes in compliance with NCAA rules.

5% Siebert Field:

  • Oversee and communicate daily with the grounds crew to ensure Siebert Field is prepared for practice and competition.
  • Coordinate with facilities management to maintain areas surrounding the field.

5% Game Day Operations:

  • Work with Event Management, GDP, Ticketing, and other parties to create a vibrant game day environment.
  • Communicate game changes and weather disruptions to all appropriate parties in a timely manner.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven experience in coaching positional players or pitchers in an on the field setting
  • Proven experience in athletics operations
  • Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with technology and data management tools - Synergy, 6-3-4, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Coaching, Education, or a related fiel
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience in athletics operations, preferably at the collegiate level

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $47,000.00 - $48,500.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
