Scope of Position

This reliable, self-starting individual, as part of the Powers team, loads, unloads, and moves material within the plant. Responsibility also includes picking and transferring parts for upcoming work orders.

This position reports to the Powers Value Stream Leader. This role is onsite and is based in St. Pauls, NC.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors the placement of finished goods.
  • Performs various duties throughout the department in order to expedite pulling orders and shipping finished goods, maintaining quality standards and ensure efficiency.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Cleans immediate work area and ensures strict organization of all racks.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Back-flush work orders transfers.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, organized work area.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; or a combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to operate a powered industrial vehicle.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Excel and/or QAD.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.

Working Conditions

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Company's location in St. Pauls, NC, Monday-Friday, with Saturday work on occasion. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements

  • Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
