Job Summary 36-hour day/night rotation including weekends and holidays required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year RN experience. About the Staff Nurse Role and Blake 11 Unit: Blake 11 is a 24 bed, locked, inpatient psychiatric unit. The inpatient service provides diagnostic evaluations, brief inpatient treatment, and care to an adult population of patients with primary psychiatric disorders. Also, as a tertiary health care provider, the service accepts referrals for diagnostically complex or treatment resistant patients. Patients with concomitant medical and neurological disorders and a primary psychiatric disorder are also treated. With primary nursing as our model of care delivery, staff nurses provide supportive and empathic emotional care, behavioral management, medication management, and education to our patients. Our mission is abatement of acute symptoms, through evaluation and appropriate disposition, generally after a 10-day stay. The nursing service has a strong culture of professionalism and evidence-based practice. Many nurses are ANCC board certified as Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses and Certified Addictions Registered Nurses. Professional growth opportunities are widely available. Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records. Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects. Record patients' medical information and vital signs. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans. Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions. Qualifications Education Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
