Description
Our Semel Institute is seeking to hire a part-time Student Research Assistant to join our Center for Neurobehavioral Genetics to support research focused on understanding the genetic basis of serious mental illness. You will support data management, quality assurance, database testing, and basic data analysis activities within a collaborative research environment. Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and test data collection tools and databases to ensure accuracy and functionality prior to study implementation
  • Perform routine quality control reviews of research data to maintain data accuracy and integrity
  • Conduct basic data analyses and create visualizations to support ongoing research projects
  • Organize, track, and manage datasets to support efficient research workflows and data distribution
  • Follow established research protocols and standard operating procedures
Salary range: $18.50/hr - $48.50/hr
Qualifications
Required:
Must be a current UCLA student
Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in a life science or related field, with at least Sophomore standing
Minimum 1 year of experience programming with Python
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions and research protocols
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team environment
Preferred:
Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Neuroscience, Genetics, Psychology or related field
