Residential Juvenile Security Officer

As a Residential Juvenile Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help maintain a secure environment by managing entry points, verifying credentials, monitoring access activity, and communicating professionally with staff and visitors. You will remain visible to help deter security-related incidents while supporting a caring, reliable team that acts with integrity. This driving position requires a valid driver's license.

What You'll Do:

Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth, and authorized personnel while carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, issue and collect visitor credentials, and maintain accurate access-related logs and records.
• Control access to restricted areas in accordance with established procedures, report unauthorized access attempts, and communicate concerns to appropriate site personnel and Allied Universal leadership.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following site-specific reporting and notification procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entrances, access points, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
• At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
