Provide direct patient care within the medical assistant's scope of practice under the direct supervision of physicians and nursing staff-no formal Medical Assistance certification needed.


  • Rooms patients
  • Compile patient medical data and enter into EHR
  • Assist provider in exam room as requested
  • Enters the patient's vital signs.
  • Looks up patients' pertinent past medical records, at Physician's request.
  • Preparation of patient progress notes.
  • Assist with triage of patient calls and document appropriately
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to physicians and nurses to ensure quality and continuity of patient care

Performs clerical duties in support of clinical research under the direction of the Clinical Research Coordinator.


  • Collects, records and files patient study data and paperwork.
  • Inputs information into study database.
  • Maintains subject files in accordance with study protocols.
  • Assembles patient enrollment and visit packets

Performs clerical duties in support of patient appointments and patient care.

* Clean and stock exam rooms ensuring equipment and supplies are available

* Assists with chart and document preparation for patient appointments.

* Developed and maintain competency on clinical computer systems

* Assist with prescription dissemination by reviewing chart for required information and calling\faxing pharmacy once physician approval is obtained

* Perform miscellaneous medical records and other clerical duties as a signs

* Assist supervisor, nurse and physician secretary as requested

* Assist in obtaining necessary prior authorization for prescribed treatments

* Faxes documents, as requested.

Performs other related duties, as assigned by the supervisor or the physician.


  • Participate in practice improvements by implementing changes to procedures/ workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement, and assisting with the delivery of compassionate and personalized patient care.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry or another related field.

* Prefer individuals with intention to enroll in pre-med, pre-PA, or other health-related educational programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Patient centered, strong customer service orientation.

* Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and troubleshoot and resolve problems.

* Ability to work independently, exhibit mature judgment and make sound decisions.

* Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9/CPT coding.

* Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.

* Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
