POSITION SUMMARY

Mechanical Automation Intern bridges the gap between mechanical design and automated systems, supporting tasks such as CAD modeling (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), designing components, programming control systems, and troubleshooting automation hardware. This role focuses on improving process efficiency, documenting engineering projects, and validating system performance under the supervision of Engineering.

This opportunity is temporary employment for engineering students who are seeking a fall/spring internship. This is a 100% onsite, part-time paid internship for up to 30 hours per week (except holidays). This internship is located in Mesa, AZ. Relocation and housing stipend are not offered for internships.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design and Development: Utilize CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to design components, machinery, and automated workflows.

* Automation Support: Develop and implement PLC programming, sensors, and robotics to improve efficiency.

* Troubleshooting & Validation: Perform hands-on debugging of mechanical assemblies, mechatronics, and automated processes, as well as testing prototypes.

* Engineering Documentation: Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical reports, and operating procedures for new systems.

* Process Improvement: Analyze manufacturing workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement automation solutions to enhance performance.

* Machine components using CNC Mill and CNC Lathe.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and experience with coding/scripting languages used in automation.

Education: Current student pursuing a 4 year Mechanical Engineering degree

Physical Location: Mesa, AZ

Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: Part time hours within a Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm schedule

Part Time: up to 30 hours

Compensation Range: $21.00 USD
