The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Proteomics Shared Resource at Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, Columbia University Medical Center, New York is seeking a full-time technician, who will be involved in the discovery and targeted proteomic analysis to support the multidisciplinary investigators at CUMC.

Responsibilities



  • Preparation of samples from cells, tissues, and biofluids for proteomics workflow including protein isolation, digestion, TMT tagging, and peptide clean-up.
  • Operating and maintaining multiple mass spectrometers.
  • Troubleshooting state-of-the-art Orbitrap Fusion, TimsTOF Pro mass spectrometers, and Dionex nanoLC systems.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Master's degree and at least three years experience, or Bachelor's degree and at least five years of related experience or equivalent in education, training, and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS in proteomics sample preparation for mass spectrometry are a plus, but not required.


Other Requirements



  • Experience in conducting method development for HPLC and/or mass spectrometry.
  • Experience in cell culture to grow various cell lines for proteomics method developments.
  • Knowledge of mass spectrometry database search algorithms.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detailed oriented, organized, able to work independently, and curious to learn new techniques.
