Description
JOB PURPOSE: The Certified Teacher (CT) position is primarily responsible for creating an inclusive learning environment that elevates the dignity of every child through an interactive and relevant curriculum. As a CT, you are responsible for cultivating the student's interest in education to ensure a transformational transition to a successful, self-affirming start in U.S. schools. The CT works collaboratively with the Content Area Supervisor and Instructional Aides to create, customize, and execute student-centered lessons to achieve the goals and needs of students and the program. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field. Hold a valid certification from the relevant governing authority. Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate certification by the accrediting body and additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children. EXPERIENCE: Track record of effective, empathetic, transformational work with youth. Bilingual (with additional knowledge of English and/or indigenous languages). At least five years of directly related experience. Experience with migrant populations or children. ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion. LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record. VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice. OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations including Pecos Children's Center with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be 21 years or older. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Background Clearance. EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD. |
