Manufacturing Associate II (MA II)

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position consists of the precise set up and monitoring of rolled vinyl material in a climate-controlled environment. The current schedule is Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm based on business need.

This position is responsible for safely operating various machining, production, and assembly operations per work assignment description to produce high quality manufactured parts or assembled production. This position will have the ability to set up or make minor adjustments to various machines. Work assignments will be scheduled based on training proficiency.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • According to work assignment description and scheduling, correctly setup and operate various machines, follow the production and quality procedures following prints and checking materials for defects, maintain production materials, inspect product to ensure high quality. Able to run various different types of equipment.
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations.
  • Perform minor adjustments and daily maintenance to equipment
  • Participate on Continuous Improvement Teams
  • Provide training to other associates as needed
  • Basic or routine troubleshooting
  • Able to operator material handling equipment: (Forklift, Stand Behinds, Trucks) if necessary
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Conduct machine and production changeovers as required
  • Certified to operate various workstations/positions within the facility to meet production needs
  • Inspect measurements and product to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Transport the product to the correct location when completed
  • Update all completed work in the correct system per the schedule
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed
  • Ability to perform and demonstrate all manufacturing procedures after training.
  • Assist with other duties within the department and/or other workstations/departments when necessary
  • Complete clean-up responsibilities and maintain workstation according to 5S procedure

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Prioritize safety of self and others.
  • Proven reliability - attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Demonstrated ability to use and interpret measurement tools such as tape measure, micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to use the following hand tools: drills, screw drivers, hammers, etc
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, BOM's and associated procedures
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to frequently changing priorities/tasks
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Basic math skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set up and operate manufacturing equipment used in the vinyl fabrication process, including lathes, CNC machines, sprayers, etc.
  • Works with an eye for process improvement opportunities.
  • Must possess high level of attention to detail
  • Works well in a Team Environment
  • Ability and willingness to provide training to other associates
  • The ability to make decisions on imperfect information
  • The ability to multitask and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Must understand basic lean principles - 5S, Kanban

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 years of previous experience in operating specific specialized equipment or 2 years of demonstrated experience operating a variety of different types of machinery.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for 8 hours/day while making coordinated movements of the hands and fingers to grasp/pinch and manipulate objects. This may include frequent use of vibrating/pneumatic tools, overhead and outstretched reaching with arms, bending/twisting/stooping, kneeling/squatting and frequently lifting/carrying up to 70 lbs. throughout the day and occasionally up to 75lbs as needed. May occasionally include pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • May occasionally be exposed to dust and spray fumes.
  • Climate controlled assembly/distribution center environment
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for working in this position.
