Surgical Stepdown is a fast-paced department that has the opportunity to care for a large of variety of medical diagnoses. Our typical patients range from complex surgeries to traumas, withdrawals and most things in between. Surgical Stepdown works closely with Mercy South surgeons, hospitalists and therapy services to use a multidisciplinary approach to assisting our patients in returning to their prior level of function. Surgical Stepdown is an excellent department to gain skills, knowledge and confidence.

  • This unit requires excellent critical thinking skills and quick decision-making abilities
  • Due to the diverse nature of this unit, the educational opportunities are endless for our coworkers.
  • 29 - patient bed unit
  • RN ratio 3-4 patients, with tech support
  • 24/7 Leadership support
  • Collaborate daily with Care Management team, RT, PT, ST and OT, Lab, Pharmacy, Transport Team and the Surgical Services

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
  • Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
