The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for all suppliers and service providers in the Indirect category for all sites in North America. The Commodity Specialist will be the primary point of contact for suppliers for topics including price and payment terms, contract reviews, escalations, business reviews and all other supplier management related topics. This position reports to the Division Sourcing & Procurement Manager.

Position Scope
To implement strategic Sourcing activities aimed at driving continuous improvement of Parker's Total Cost of Ownership for all suppliers in the assigned category.

Essential Functions

  • Regularly reviews the performance of indirect suppliers and executes action plans to meet stated goals
  • Finds, selects, and negotiates with suppliers based on internal customer requirements and best total cost to Parker
  • Works with existing suppliers to develop and execute plans to achieve continuous improvement, quality, delivery, service and cost goals
  • Evaluates suppliers based on preferred supplier criteria of price, quality, delivery, and certifications
  • Ensures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and policies
  • Partners with internal customers to approve purchases and capital expenses through requisition system
  • Act as point of escalation for internal customers to assist with any supplier related opportunities
  • Report monthly freight spend and adjust shipment classifications as needed
  • Ensure proper shipping methods are being used and find areas of opportunity to reduce freight spend
  • Verify part HTS, COO, & other import designations for proper import customs clearance
  • Complete customer request to fill out free trade agreements as needed
  • Assist shipping team with adhoc shipping software requests
  • Assist internal customers with expedited shipment as needed

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Materials Management or similar required
  • 1-3+ years purchasing or supply chain related experience preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
  • Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper process automation opportunities
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to negotiate in business-to-business scenarios a bonus
  • Must have functional understanding of cost accounting and adapt to practical application
  • Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices
  • Familiar with applicable Free Trade Agreements and ability to complete customer request for agreements a plus
