PPG Aerospace is looking for a dynamic Plant Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in Mojave, CA! In this on-site role, you will report directly to the Plant Manager, leading the manufacturing engineering teams for our Coatings and Sealants divisions. Your primary responsibilities will include driving important projects to enhance product quality, boost labor productivity, and improve customer fulfillment. You will promote employee engagement by promoting personal and career development, ensuring a organizational structure that supports talent acquisition, retention, and accountability. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing engineering team in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems, while managing process capability, product cost, efficiency, and scrap reduction
  • Plan and allocate resources, directing activities to meet schedules, standards, and cost goals, ensuring efficient production workflows
  • Provide guidance on employee development, performance, productivity, and promoting a culture that reinforces appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors
  • Inspire creativity and programs to enhance existing processes, supporting new program launches (NPI) on the production line
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing methods, efficient product flow, and ergonomic projects to enhance employee health and safety
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of engineering staff, ensuring agreement on personal and our goals
  • Lead important daily/weekly rhythms, including Tier3, Gemba walks, safety reviews, 5S, production, and strategy planning meetings; participate in daily Tier4 meetings (SQCDP)
  • Promote a culture of safety in collaboration with EHS, industrial, and leadership teams, ensuring a safe working environment, stringent housekeeping, and adherence to 5S standards
  • Uphold quality procedures, promoting alignment and accountability to the quality system, and ensuring manufacturing process controls are followed
  • Use a metric-driven approach to monitor and guide next steps towards operational excellence, ensuring continuous improvement in all aspects of manufacturing operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred
  • Minimum seven (7) years in engineering, construction, or project management in a production environment; leadership or managerial experience required
  • In-depth understanding of engineering principles, construction techniques, and project management methodologies. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations. Experience with Mixers/Blenders, Roll Mills, Reactors, Dispensing Systems, Filling lines, Packaging and Distribution systems, and Quality Control Equipment is highly desirable
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to identify and solve complex problems. Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies and tools is essential; Black Belt Six Sigma Certification preferred
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Salary Range: $140,000 to $170,000 Depending on experience
