Job Description

American Systems is seeking a Combat Control Systems (AN/BYG-1) Engineering Technician to support efforts in Groton, CT.

A week in the life of a Combat Control Systems Engineer Technician:



  • Assist with test and evaluation; perform validations/verifications of AN/BYG-1systems
  • Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions (ECI)
  • Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements
  • Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise
  • Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed
  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures; review change proposals for equipment impacts

Job Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of practical experience and High School diploma/GED OR Six (6) years practical experience and an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, repairing networking equipment and Windows servers and workstations
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time


Preferred Qualifications



  • US Military systems/network Submarine experience
  • (FTOW) Fire control Technician of the Watch qualification preferred
  • AN/BYG-1 Combat Systems Experience

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $82,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans (including ESOP and 401k), insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
