Job Description:

Work directly within an office in the Trinity Student Affairs Division to ensure that the core Trinity University values are celebrated in the academic, professional, and social development of each student. Student Affairs cultivates an inclusive and engaging campus experience to form new relationships, encounter new ideas and develop the students mind, body and spirit. The Student Inclusion and Belonging (SIB) Graduate Assistant will work directly with the Assistant Director of SIB to ensure that the core Trinity University value of Intentional Inclusion is visible and active in the welcoming, social development and retention of the campus community. Through engaging social justice, equity, and inclusion concepts, the assistant will help build capacity and support for students from traditionally and historically marginalized communities.

Job Duties:

  • Support the development of programs/initiatives on issues affecting underrepresented student populations including religious, Asian and Asian American Pacific Islander, LGBTQ+, and Native/Indigenous student populations

  • Assist in the development and training of diversity, equity, and allyship workshops to positively enhance the campus community

  • Assist in the supervision and advising of student employees and the SIB University Student Organization, the Trinity Diversity Connection (TDC)

  • Contribute to creative marketing efforts and publicity campaigns for event/office promotion

  • Serve in the on-call duty rotation with the Residential Life team (see on-campus housing requirement below)

  • Attend scheduled department meetings, retreats, and professional development

  • Complies with all Trinity University policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education before start date

  • Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program.

  • Enrolled in maintaining good conduct and academic standing

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain an appropriate degree of confidentiality

  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Publisher, Microsoft Office programs and social media tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to take on assigned tasks with a high level of creativity, independence and initiative

  • Ability to communicate on a scholarly level in writing, verbal and electronic technology

  • Serve as a professional representative of the division/office in meetings and other interactions

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software and Canva for marketing and publishing

  • Prior program planning experience and ability to work/lead in a team setting

  • An understanding of student development theoryand articulate trends in higher education
