Key Responsibilities:

The Clinical Therapist is a key member of the Northstar Behavioral Health Team who is responsible for providing direct and indirect client care by providing psychotherapeutic services to clients and families. The CT will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team, supporting the facility's treatment program and philosophy. The CT will also serve as the primary liaison between the family and outside agencies for discharge planning, abuse reporting, and continuum of care functions.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Through a collection of interactions with patients and other health care providers, collects and analyzes data regarding the patient's psychosocial history and current environment, and identifies anticipated discharge needs.
  • Ensures the psychosocial data is comprehensive, completed within a specified timeline; and reflects the medical necessity for treatment; includes an integrated summary with recommendations for treatment and discharge.
  • Coordinates the development and review of the Master Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan updates, ensuring that input from all treatment team disciplines, referral source(s), and/or parent/guardian (as appropriate) is reflected in the plan.
  • Ensures that treatment plan goals and interventions effective address acuity, patient management issues, and target behaviors, ensuring the goals and objectives are measurable.
  • Provides individual therapy patients, ensuring therapy interventions are directly related to treatment plan goals and objectives; meets with patients weekly to assess response to treatment, level of functioning and treatment needs; assists patients in setting appropriate goals; discusses ongoing discharge plan with clients.
  • Provide group therapy sessions and be able to effectively manage group process to maximize therapeutic benefits to patients; conducts process and specialty groups as assigned.
  • Establishes rapport and minimizes resistance with families to effectively engage them in family treatment; makes weekly contact with each patient's family and/or guardian in addition to family sessions to discuss progress.
  • Ensures individual, family, and group therapy documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicates patient's progress and readiness for discharge to members of treatment team; ensures initial discharge plans are documented within specified timeline.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Clinical Expertise: A master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensure: Alaska LCSW or LPC licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred.
  • Therapeutic Skills: Proficiency in providing psychotherapeutic services.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills
