Doula - Contingent - Metro Detroit (Henry Ford) In the United States, significant racial disparities exist in maternal morbidity and mortality, particularly among Black and Latinx birthing persons. Research shows that in addition to standard nursing care, continuous one-on-one emotional support-such as that provided by Doulas-leads to improved labor outcomes. Studies have demonstrated that this support can shorten labor, reduce the need for analgesia and operative deliveries, and increase overall satisfaction with the birthing experience. Our mission is to enhance maternal health and well-being, reduce maternal mortality rates, and eliminate racial disparities in health outcomes. To achieve this, we integrate evidence-based practices, including the support of Doulas and Community Health Workers (CHWs), to guide and assist new and expecting mothers through a comprehensive network of social, emotional, and clinical care. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Maternal Infant Health Equity and the Doula Supervisor. Responsible for creating relationships with families during pregnancy and the post-partum period. Provides education outreach and works to ensure that pregnant patients have access to wellness services and receive on going care and follow up. Provides emotional support during acute care admissions. What we are looking for:
