Job Purpose

Daily production technical support. Lead & train Weld Technicians. Review, plan and implement necessary process changes resulting from continuous improvements, ECN's, ECR's, and new projects. Assist with launch activities. Manage development testing and process parameters for magnetic arc welding, friction welding and laser welding processes. Drive AIAG's CQI-15 self-assessment process..

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all development testing for magnetic arc, friction and laser welding.
  • Continuous improvement projects utilizing the DOS tools and methodology aimed to improve safety, quality, increase productivity, reduce downtime and reduce scrap.
  • On-time engineering change implementation.
  • Interact successfully with Dana's launch teams.
  • Interact successfully with customer engineering and SQE representatives.
  • Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
  • Support EOL and Diamond Board activities.
  • Understand and follow all required DOS standards.
  • Hands-on responsibility for weld engineering projects such as production process development, weld equipment maintenance needs, instructions, and weld station methods & procedures.
  • Maintain process documentation describing control of manufacturing process (FMEA, control plan, operator check sheets, operator and gauge work instructions, process sheets, deviation postings, Poka-Yoke check sheets, PM check sheets, tool matrix postings).
  • Maintain action plan for continuous improvement for weld department, coordinate efforts for plant goals and objectives.
  • Hands-on responsibility for troubleshooting and repair of production welding equipment in support of the maintenance department.
  • Review and analyze production, quality assurance, maintenance and other operational reports to identify nonconformities in product weld quality and output and resolve production problems.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in welding metallurgy and or welding technology preferred, plus four years practical experience and/or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience & knowledge in inertia, resistance, MIG, MAG and laser welding.
  • Knowledge of quality tools/techniques (APQP, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, TS-16949, 3 path 5 why, 8D etc).
  • Capable of reading product drawings and prints. Working knowledge of GD & T, tolerance stack analysis, gage design and check fixture follow-up activities including Gage R& R's.
  • Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite and computer literacy.
  • PLC knowledge in Allen-Bradley & Siemens highly desired
  • Effective communication skills.
